TRAVELING MISADVENTURES

As you may remember, I recently returned from a cruise to Hawaii, which was immediately followed by a book tour to Alaska.

As the Author in Residence aboard the Princess Regal, I met so many wonderful people and had a blast. When the ship returned to Los Angeles, I did a book tour in California which included speaking at the Redondo Beach Library. My literary manager and friend Diana James met me there. After the presentation, we went out for a leisurely dinner. I left my car in the library parking lot and went on hers.

When I returned, the lot was securely locked—with my car inside. Thank God the police station was two doors down. They helped me break in and get my car out. Okay, actually, they had a key. It just sounds soooo much better to say they helped me break in!

Then off to Alaska. Don’t ask me why, but my husband and I decided to drive our motor home. It would have been fine, except for the snow. At times, we were driving on a solid sheet of ice for hundreds of miles. The scenery came straight out of a Christmas card: frozen lakes, bison covered with snow, swans, trees heavy with snow. We would have definitely enjoyed this more if our generator hadn’t chosen to give up. Then our microwave stopped microwaving and the cabinets in our camper began to collapse. Ayee!

Now that the Alaska tour is over, we’re happy we did Alaska this way. My Authors to the Bush experience made a whirl of a difference. I was lucky to go to North Pole, Fairbanks, and Two Rivers. A near future CrimeSpree Magazine will carry my story about the Authors to the Bush which is sponsored by the Alaska Sisters in Crime in conjunction with the state of Alaska.

MURDER MUST AIR

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been hosting the Mystery Writers of America’s talk show for one full year. It aired from Oct. 06-Oct. 07. After the year ended, MWA decided to put the show in hiatus while discussing budgeting. When the status changes, I’ll notify you. In the meantime, thanks to all the listeners!
